Q:
Are your power catamarans "unsinkable"?

A:
The technical answer is yes. Now no one like to tempt Neptune and the use if the word "unsinkable" is not to be taken as a license to do anything but use the greatest care and common sense in the marine environment. What "unsinkable" means to us is that from a technical stand point, the sum of the parts are less dense than many materials. In other words, take a square foot of our composite structure and a square foot of a typical aluminum, steel, or even solid glass, toss them in the water and see how it works. OK now in practical terms, the most important issue aside from materials is proper "sub-division" this refers to watertight integrity within the structure. The typical Pacific Expedition power catamaran not only has the safety of two hulls it also divides those in a practical manner based of typical guidelines used by the USCG for passenger carrying vessels. So the basic platform is protected from a holeing or other catastrophic event by six major subdivisions. Even with the bottoms of both multi-hulls compromised, the yacht will remain above water.
