The variable of any grounding or impact means that we don't have one answer but here is some help in understanding what might happen. Pacific Expedition Yachts use additional laminates of Kevlar co-woven material below the multi-hull water line of the boat. This laminate in the high modulus resin category and creates an effective wire in glass structure using real Kevlar. This ability to stop a tearing or opening event in the case of a catastrophic hit is a big plus. This laminate application originated in the 90’s with our own John Shaw as log strikes became a common bane in the North West waters. It's proven out in a number of direct hits at speed in power catamarans as well as mono-hulls.
